Leading with inclusion means working effectively with people of different backgrounds, experiences, opinions and perceptions. In this interactive four-hour course (offered in 2 sessions), you will be able to develop an awareness of the different dimensions of diversity and how to apply those in your day-to-day work. Students are required to complete a pre-course reading assignment as well as an assignment between the two sessions. 10/5 & 10/6 12:00pm-2:30pm
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
Define the benefits of diversity and inclusion at the YMCA.
Recognize one’s own dimensions of diversity and what influences those dimensions.
Recognize how dimensions of diversity influence your perception of the world and how the world sees you.
Develop empathy for others’ dimensions of diversity and how this informs relationship building.
Recognize opportunities for inclusive practices in your Y and your community.
